Despite of the benefits of Environmental Information System usage yet there were no documentation has been done so far to explain applicability of Environmental Information System. Moreover, studies showed that there were no empirical studies done on the use of and/or demands for environmental information by environmental managers were in existence. This became an interesting point for the researcher and developed a research proposal to explore applicability of Environmental Information Systems for Corporate Environmental Management in Tanzania. Corporate organizations' environmental management utilization of Environmental Information Systems created a number of benefits for Environmental Management in Tanzania. This book therefore, provides detailed information on the key Environmental Management functions performed at various levels of Corporate Environmental Management. The extent to which corporate organizations environmental management utilizes available Environmental Information Systems and problems hindering corporate use of Environmental Information Systems in Tanzania.

On the Performance of Military Distributed Information Systems. A Software Architect's Perspective on Quality of Service for Military Distributed Applications
Assembling heterogeneous systems into distributed information systems poses many challenges to the software architects, notably on the question of overall performance from the users' perspective. This thesis reflects on the problem of ensuring performance in military distributed applications. Of particular interest to this work are the aspects of military performance metrics or measures of merit, the implementation aspects of such measures into the formal CORBA distributed software specification, the performance architectures offered by quality of service and UML performance modeling aspects. It is hoped that the notions discussed in this work will enable software architects in their difficult task of unifying information systems together. Military coalition operations impose stringent requirements of interoperability on military information systems.
