Описание:This book explored and compared American preservice teachers’ teaching self-efficacy beliefs with those of their Chinese counterparts. More specifically, three areas were explored in this study: 1) participants’ motivations to become a teacher, 2) their perceptions about teaching professional characteristics, and 3) their teaching self-efficacy beliefs about content knowledge, pedagogical skills, and classroom management strategies. This book helps teacher educators gain insight into their own as well as other teacher education programs and goals and philosophies of these programs, which have been cultivated and developed from two very different settings. Thus,teacher educators of both countries will be able to identify the strengths and weaknesses of their own as well as the other’s teacher preparation programs.

Whereas wisdom comes through humility, it may actually help, in cultivating intelligence, to have a mistakenly high opinion of your abilities, because that encourages you to keep working. They can tell at a young age that a contest where everyone wins is a fraud. A teacher has to walk a narrow path: you want to encourage kids to come up with things on their own, but you can't simply applaud everything they produce. You have to be a good audience: appreciative, but not too easily impressed. And that's a lot of work. You have to have a good enough grasp of kids' capacities at different ages to know when to be surprised ...»

Does China need a game rating system?. A content analysis of violence in popular Chinese and American electronic games
The analysis should help shed some light on game violence and its contextual issues in the world' s biggest game market, and should be useful for researchers, media professionals, policy makers, game developers, or anyone else who may be interested in this field. The findings suggest that a rating system is needed to assess Chinese games and protect the players from the risk of violence. Concerns over the initiative and the scarcity of research on Chinese game violence have prompted the need for this study. Comparing with the American games, a content analysis found similarities in the quantity of violence in popular Chinese games and significant differences in context between the two groups. Over the past decade, violence-related issues start to surface from China’s burgeoning electronic game market. However, this system needs to be tailored toward its own context. The initiative of the nation’s first game rating system, however, was cold-shouldered due to insufficient support.
