If highly populated nations such as India, China and Nigeria БЂ“ which until now have had relatively low prevalence rates БЂ“ do not mount effective HIV prevention measures, the global toll of HIV infections will be even more enormous. Stigma and positive leadership A unique feature of HIV is the overwhelming nature of the stigma. No other infectious disease has been so demonised. Stigma and denial are the greatest barriers to HIV prevention.
