As a result, many are challenged to actively participate in class, play a part in clubs, use different facilities in the campus, study and achieve their goal. Yet, female students are unfairly victims of harassment and hence are compelled to live and learn in a context where their success and even existence is highly compromised. Hence, apart from their effort and obligation to study, female students would be compelled to handle and survive from the influences of sexual harassment. The work helps universities and other concerned institutions to design appropriate interventions that take into account response strategies of female students. In spite of that, little is known about these various coping mechanisms students in universities actually use to handle sexual harassment. It is especially helpful to professionals in social work, gender and education fields, or anyone else who may be interested in addressing sexual harassment in higher institutions. This book, therefore, examines how female students of Addis Ababa University respond to sexual harassment by male perpetrators.

Transformative Learning. International Students in an American University
Based on the premise that international students bring their own cultural frames of reference, this study' s purpose was to understand how international students make meaning of new experiences and if in the process of making meaning of new experiences they experienced transformative learning. A qualitative multiple-case study in an American institution of higher education. Analysis of data showed that although participants tried new meaning schemes no transformative learning occurred and participants did not critically reflect on their frames of reference. Sample was one of convenience with participants from eight different countries and two different academic programs. Participants had full international student status for a minimum of one year, were speakers of English as a second language, enrolled in a graduate program, and were socialized in ways that were divergent from that of their American counterparts. Data collection included in-classroom and advising-sessions observation, analysis of journals kept by American students of their experiences with mentoring of international students, and two personal in-depth interviews.
