Описание:The major purpose of this study is to investigate the work-related experiences of Black women leaders working within the higher education sector of Zimbabwe and to explore how those experiences are influenced by the major contextual factors of race, class, gender, nationality and sexuality. Women who occupy leadership positions in most male dominated work environments, such as the higher education sector, face unique experiences and challenges in executing their administrative and other professional duties. These experiences include the way women perceive their leadership roles, the way they juggle their family and work responsibilities and the problems that they confront as women leading men and women in traditionally male-dominated fields. An additional goal of the study is to examine how the leadership characteristics of the women relate to those articulated by indigenous approaches to leadership in Zimbabwe.

Gender Perspective of Private sponsorship policy at Higher education. Effects of the Policy on women and men's access to higher education in Uganda
This book provides data of how private sponsorship policies at higher education in Africa has affected boys/men and girls/women' s access to higher education, with women and girls remaining on the margins or benefiting less from the policy. The book presents a gender analysis of enrolment rates of private students as well as the gendered dynamics in access and participation in higher education under the private sponsorship policies. This book should be useful to education policy makers, gender activists in the education sector as well as professionals and academicians in the areas of gender and education to revisit, advocate and inquire into the way governments implement programmes to equally benefit both women and men. However, this privatization of higher education seems to have opened up new and subtle arenas of exclusion with women and girls being the victims of a further inaccessible education. It was highly believed that this would allow many students access university education. Since the 1990s higher education has been the focus of privatization in Africa.

This book investigates opportunities available to enable the transformation of post-apartheid teacher education through examining two cases of professional practice. The book offers insights into the complexities of change at the micro-level of classroom practices.
