Исследование опирается на концепцию "культурный империализм", которая трактуется здесь как особая политика, осуществляемая правительством США для распространения в зарубежных странах американской политической культуры, идеологии, системы ценностей в целях реализации конкретных внешнеполитических задач.

Iron Construction and Cultural Discourse. German Architectural Theory, 1890-1918
Historians have traditionally interpreted this debate as evidence of the architectural profession' s growing affirmation of the modern ideals of industrial advance and rational thought. This study argues that in the Janus-faced culture of early modern Germany, in which romantic Idealism and rational thought both held sway, architects were not yet convinced that iron construction should be understood solely as a sign of modern progress. During a period of heightened ambivalence toward modernization, architects tested the capacity of iron engineering to accommodate a range of cultural values. Drawing evidence from the theoretical writings of architects and critics, including Hermann Muthesius, Paul Schultze-Naumburg, and Peter Behrens, as well as engineers, such as Franz Reuleaux, this study reveals the range of rhetorical strategies employed to test iron construction' s capacity for both Zivilisation and Kultur.

A training needs analysis shows clinicians' confidence in cross-cultural mental state assessments was relatively low. To enhance the cross-cultural clinical competence of crisis assessment teams a training program in Cross-cultural Psychiatric Assessment is developed and delivered. Context analysis of population and mental health data shows disparities in treated prevalence for mental disorder, involuntary admission, and diagnosis of clients from ethnic communities. Previous research shows cross-cultural differences in manifestations of mental disorders are associated with disparities in mental health service provision. In Australia, as in many countries, cultural and linguistic diversity poses particular challenges for mental health professionals assessing clients from diverse cultures. The 5-stage project reported in this book is guided by a program logic framework.
